Research:

Our laboratory studies the physiological ecology of nitrogen (N) acquisition in terrestrial plants. We are examining the role of plant N fluxes in several key areas: forest succession, yield potential in cereals, cellular ionic interactions, and light and nutrient stresses. The approach is highly multidisciplinary, ranging from the mathematical modelling of biophysical processes to field ecological analyses. Techniques include compartmental analysis, influx kinetics, electrophysiology, gas exchange, fluorescence kinetics, ionic and metabolic profiling of tissues, and growth analysis
