Support Us

Students at this, one of the largest ecology and evolutionary biology departments in North America, have an opportunity to learn from an impressive cadre of 60 world-renowned experts as they pursue their studies in molecular evolution, genetics, animal behaviour, biodiversity and conservation biology. Over half of the 50 undergraduate courses on offer give students hands-on lab or field experience when they participate in cutting-edge research at sites in the New World tropics, Maritimes, Algonquin Park, or at our own Koffler Scientific Reserve in the GTA. And 140 graduate students are pursuing advanced degrees in ecology, evolution and integrative biology.

Donations to the department will support the education and training of these future designers of environmental sustainability.

Jack Dainty Scholarship in Organismal Biology, Ecology and Evolution

The Jack Dainty Scholarship in Organismal Biology, Ecology and Evolution will be awarded to a student in graduate research addressing interactions between organisms and their environment.

Jack Dainty was a pioneering plant biophysicist who introduced a thermodynamic approach to the study of the movement of water and ions across plant cell membranes.
