Microscope Facility
The EEB Department has a transmission and a scanning electron microscope, and a well-equipped laboratory in which specimens may be prepared and sectioned for electron microscopy. This equipment is primarily used for research into the structure of viruses, algae and fungi, as well as diseased and healthy higher plants; however, undergraduates may use the electron microscopes as an integral part of a 4th-year project (e.g. BOT 460Y and BOT 461H), and during certain upper-level courses that include ultrastructural practical work.
