Professor John Stinchcombe receives the 2025 Dean’s Research Excellence Award
The Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology congratulates
Professor John Stinchcombe, Distinguished Professor of Ecological Genetics and Director of Koffler Scientific Reserve on receiving the 2025 Dean’s Research Excellence Award from the Faculty of Arts & Science.

Professor Stinchcombe is internationally recognized for his research in ecological genomics, which examines how natural selection and genetic variation shape plant evolution, especially under rapid environmental change. His work combines genomic tools with field studies to understand how species respond to factors such as climate change, biological invasions, and human-driven pressures.
As director of the Koffler Scientific Reserve, Professor Stinchcombe supports a vibrant community of researchers who use the reserve as a living laboratory for studying biodiversity, evolution, and environmental change. Under his leadership KSR has received international recognition for cutting-edge research and education.
The Dean’s Research Excellence Awards (DREA) celebrate outstanding and influential scholars from across the Faculty of Arts & Science whose academic work has made a lasting impact in their fields.
