Edna Margaret Robertson worked for many years in the audit department of the Toronto Transportation Commission. Later in life she married Emerson Robertson, who was acquainted with several professor of science at the University of Toronto. Edna Robertson developed a keen interest in wildlife and fish conservation through her contact with her husband’s friends. She was involved in lengthy conversations and debates concerning the environment and conservation. Edna Robertson, through her husband, became acutely aware of the need for wildlife and fish conservation and she felt that this could be achieved only through intense study. Emerson Robertson predeceased Edna. She wished to expand upon her husband’s interest in conservation by fostering further study with the scholarships provided through her estate. A bequest of $20,000.00 for the purpose of advancing post-graduate studies in wildlife and fish conservation in the Province of Ontario was realized upon her death in 1989.
