Ancient, lobster-like predator discovered in 508-million-year-old fossil site

An ancient, lobster-like predator has been discovered in the 508-million-year-old Canadian Burgess Shale fossil site. It is the first new species to be described from the Marble Canyon site of the fossil deposit. The discovery was made by a team led by paleontologists of the University of Toronto and Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), including EEB’s own Associate Professor Jean-Bernard Caron and PhD Candidate, Cedric Aria.
