Assistant Professor - Organismal Ecology and/or Evolution 

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Organismal Ecology and/or Evolution. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.

We seek outstanding candidates who leverage deep natural history knowledge of an organism or group of organisms to conduct conceptually driven research in ecology, evolution and/or behaviour.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in ecology, evolution, or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek applications from candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. 

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement with a clear vision of novel and rigorous future research, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.  

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students will be demonstrated through teaching experience and accomplishments highlighted as part of the application, and a teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
