About

Speaker: Erin Peterson, CSIRO EcoSciences Precinct – Dutton Park, Australia

Host: Marie-Josée Fortin

Erin Peterson is a Senior Research Scientist with the CSIRO Digital Productivity & Services Flagship, where she leads the Monitoring and Indicator Analysis team. She received her B.S. in Conservation Forestry from Michigan State University, her M.S. in Forestry from Colorado State University, and her Ph.D. in Earth Resources from Colorado State University. Erin’s educational background and experience allow her to work at the interface of landscape and aquatic ecology, geographic information science, and environmental statistics. Most of her research relates to broad-scale modeling in freshwater streams, regional aquatic monitoring design and assessment, and the development of methods that better represent the spatial location, configuration, and connectivity of features in statistical models. Erin is also committed to software tool development, which helps to ensure that the methodologies she develops are made accessible to ecologists and natural resource managers.
