Host: BREWS
Talk: Knowledge co-production describes a collaborative process of uniting different knowledge sources, ways of knowing and perspectives with project partners. Research produced in this way creates more inclusive projects, can lead to better outcomes and can bridge the gap between knowledge and action. However, it also comes with challenges to the typical academic process, including increased research timelines and the necessary sharing of control and intellectual ownership. Jaime Grimm (PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto EEB department) and Reta Meng (PhD Candidate at McMaster University) share an introduction to these challenges and case studies from their own research.
