My research examines the effects of climate change on lakes, and how changes in aquatic systems influence their greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. Specifically, I’m interested in how carbon cycling and primary production in lakes are affected by direct anthropogenic activities (including water management approaches) as well as climate change. This focus largely addresses the interactions between biogeochemical and ecological shifts in lakes, with a particular focus on incorporating benthic-littoral processes.
