Undergrad Scholarships & Awards

The department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology offers various awards and bursaries for undergraduates in all years. We also offer a variety of summer research awards that present opportunities for students to work in our faculty research labs and in the field.

Award Explorer is a centralized, searchable database of thousands of awards from admissions to in-course and graduating awards. The database holds awards that are funded by the academic divisions, colleges, as well as awards that are institutionally centrally funded by the University of Toronto. This tool can help you explore the diverse funding opportunities available to you.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) offers Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRAs) during the summer to encourage student participation in research.

The Koffler Scientific Reserve (KSR) located at Joker’s Hill north of Toronto sponsors Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) during the summer.

University of Toronto Excellence Award

The University of Toronto Excellence Award (UTEA) program provides eligible undergraduate students with opportunities to conduct summer research projects under the supervision of eligible U of T faculty members.

EEB USRA for BIPOC Students

This non-GPA based award supports BIPOC students to conduct a summer research project under the supervision of an EEB faculty member. Applications will be evaluated on metrics such as motivation for conducting research and skills gained through lived experiences.

Northrop Frye Summer Research Experience

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who has successfully completed BIO120H1. The award will fund summer research in the discipline of evolution, ecology, or behaviour.

EEB Awards
