Undergrad Scholarships & Awards

The department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology offers various awards and bursaries for first, second, third, and fourth year undergraduates. We also offer summer research awards that present opportunities for students to work in our faculty research labs and in the field.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) offers Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRAs) during the summer to encourage student participation in research.


The Koffler Scientific Reserve (KSR) located at Joker’s Hill north of Toronto sponsors Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) during the summer.

UTEA Program

The University of Toronto Excellence Award (UTEA) program is funded by the Vice-President Research & Innovation and provides eligible undergraduate students with opportunities to conduct summer research projects under the supervision of eligible U of T faculty members.

Northrop Frye Summer Research Experience

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who has successfully completed BIO120H1. The award will fund summer research in the discipline of evolution, ecology, or behaviour.

EEB Awards

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards offered by the department.

EEB distributes a number of merit- and financial needs-based awards every year. Students enrolled in EEB POSts are automatically considered for the awards, if they meet the eligibility requirements.

CGCS Summer Internship Program

Centre for Global Change Science (CGCS) offers paid summer internships for undergraduates to pursue research in the lab of EEB-affiliated members of the Centre.
